Welcome to The Nintendo Legend Forum!
This is the official discussion board for the Nintendo Legend website dedicated to playing and reviewing every NES video game ever released in the North American region. This forum is primarily dedicated to conversations concerning the Nintendo Entertainment System, along with secondary subjects as well, all in the effort to foster interactive, constructive, enjoyable dialogue.
About Online Forums
An online forum is a private community of people getting together and discussing various topics. Since it is a private forum, "Freedom of Speech" is not a valid argument here. Administrators and Moderators decide what is acceptable and what is not acceptable as a topic or post. If you want to exercise your "Freedom of Speech," you may do so at a public location.
In addition, privacy is not observed here. Administrators have access to each and everything on this site, whether it be a hidden forum or Private Messages. They can act in ways they deem necessary based on their observations. If privacy is your concern, it is recommended that you stay off the Internet.
Basic Forum Etiquette
While you are free to express your opinion, remember that since you are speaking over the use of digital means, and not face to face, expressions are not easily expressed and certain sentences can be taken in such a way that could offend where there was no offense intended. If you are exaggerating or making a joke, please make sure to make use of the emoticons (or smiles) as they are the only way to get certain expressions across accurately.
When posting, please use proper punctuation and spelling as often as possible. We all make mistakes, but if you leave out a period or question mark, your sentences can become jumbled and confuse the reader. Punctuation can also help express your views better by making certain points stronger than others. Spacing is very important since if you write multiple paragraphs into one, it can be very hard to read and thus overlooked by readers.
It is recommended that you read your own message before you post. Make sure that you have correct punctuation, adequate spacing, and just double-check that your post is on topic and somehow contributes to the conversation.
Conflict Resolution
If you have an issue with a specific person, please take the dispute to Private Message. If you are uncomfortable with contacting the person directly, send a Private Message to NintendoLegend and describe your concern in detail. If it is worth dealing with, it will be dealt with. If your worry is unwarranted, this will be pointed out to you.
Nintendo Legend Law Enforcement
Forgive my breaking formality here and speaking in a first-person tone, but I’ll be honest: I’m a pretty casual, laid-back guy. For one example, I would love for everyone to remain on topic, but I also recognize that subjects overlap, off-topic thoughts can still be a positive contribution, and it is not worth being overly concerned about. Thus, I am not going to be the type of admin that wants to fit every topic to the rules just for the sake of rule-following; if you are having a fun conversation without harm, then feel free to continue, regardless of context.
Frankly, I don’t anticipate many issues, and don’t understand why it would ever be so difficult for a group of people to engage in civil discussion. As much as I love lists, I am not going to sit here and itemize every single little possible offense and every contingency plan I have for them.
What I will do is warn you if you are participating in behavior that is lowering the quality of this forum. I will never ban you without first communicating a warning, but I will eventually ban you if banning you would improve this discussion board. It may be wise to keep in mind that my pet peeves include inability to communicate, inability to peacefully listen to an opposing point of view, and consistent stupidity. Also, please note that while the right expletive can effectively emphasize a powerful or humorous point, blatant swearing used as a substitute in place of intellect or creativity will be discouraged. If you are not smart or creative enough to craft your point without resorting to expletive-laden diatribe, I suggest you remain silent on the issue and allow superior conversationalists to carry on the discussion.
Otherwise, keep in mind that I reserve the right to basically do anything at any time without warning, but also that all I desire is some good NES talk. I am confident that we can accomplish this.
So have fun, game on, and long live the NES!
