I feel like whenever the "favorite game" question is asked, it seems terribly difficult -- but perhaps only because a little more specific detail is needed. So, in this thread, let's try to tackle the question in three different ways:
1) If Your Life Depended On It
This would be the NES title that you feel you are your best at. This is the game that you have spent hours playing, that you feel you have mastered, that you would feel most confident entering a competitive tournament in. This is the game that if hostile aliens invaded the planet, and humanity's only hope was to beat the extraterrestrial challenge of picking one NES video game and beating one of them at it, this is the one you'd pick.
2) The Desert Island Scenario
You've heard it before: You're stranded on a desert island with no way to escape, and you will basically live there until you die. Besides the bare essentials you will need to begin your plan of survival, you have access to an organically powered generator that you can hook up an NES and one game to. What game do you pick if you could only play one NES game for the rest of your life?
3) Your Mood
Let's face it, our favorite game may depend on how we feel at any given moment. You know what I mean, right? Sometimes I'm in the mood for a long-haul RPG to get emotionally invested in, but other times I just as strongly want to play a pulse-pounding round of Contra. If you had to pick one 8-bit game RIGHT NOW, what would it be?

1. Battletoads I think. It's a really difficult game, but I've spent a lot of time on it. Also just don't want to pick SMB or Contra or something cause I think way too many people or aliens are awesome at those. 2. I'd probably jump into the ocean and drown at that point... or make some coconut schnapps But I'd say Tetris, because I already know I get bored of many of my favorites through repetition, yet Tetris is simple and I've been challenging myself to try to get 999,999 points for a long time. I think highest points for me is around 600,000, so even after a couple decades I've got a goal to work on. 3. I'm in the mood for a nice game of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out right now. But yes, my mood changes frequently for this question.

1.) Any of the Mega Man games. I played them to death. (Though admittedly I only managed to beat the second one in the last two years.)
2.) One of the RPGs, most likely Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior III. Something I can play through multiple times with different scenarios each time. Given a lifetime of living on a deserted island, I might just be able to beat Final Fantasy with a team full of White Mages.
3.) Castlevania. I've never really played the games that much, and I'd like to give it a go. Especially since I have spare points on my Wii and I THINK they have all three NES games available online.

Maybe Castlevania, Street Gangs and Skate or Die.

1) I'm going with either Rollerball or R.B.I. Baseball, would be fine with either.
2) Bring it on, Final Fantasy!
3) Right now I want to play the original Mega Man and see if I'm any better at it than ever before.

It's all about the game, and how you play it.

1) Mega Man 2.
2) Startropics. Hey, at least it fits, being trapped on a desert island.
3) Ducktales. I can play that game any time, and still have oodles of fun.
