Super Mario Bros. almost single-handedly resurrected the home console video game industry, following the market crash brought on by sub-par third-party Atari 2600 developers pushing terrible games onto unsuspecting consumers until they had had enough. With its tight play control, intuitive level design (the first level is designed to teach the player the limits of Mario's movement), colorful original setting, legendary soundtrack, and excellent gameplay overall, the title still stands as a popular classic.
Super Mario Bros. 3 was the mega-hit blockbuster cartridge that sold millions, and promptly informed the world that video gaming was here to stay as a relevant cultural force. Mario would become among the world’s most beloved iconic figures for decades to come, largely thanks to this iteration’s ambitious scope, new power-ups, updated graphics, and superb replay value, adding up to become one of the all-time great games.
… so which is superior?
